die ossis im ausland

...zaehlen oft mehr als im eigenen lande.
ossis machen in letzter zeit nur schlagzeilen wegen toter babies im kuehlschrank und fascho-ueberfaellen auf auslaender.
von deutschen medien scheinbar voellig unbeachtet gedeiht in der zwischenzeit ostdeutsches talent im ausland. damit meine ich ausnahmsweise nicht mich, sondern leute wie uli herzner. 36 jahre alt, geboren im osten, lebt seit jahren in miami.
uli hat sich ihren traum verwirklicht und ist modedesignerin geworden. sie war zweite in der designerwettbewerb-reality-tv show *project runway* (uebrigens moderiert von heidi klum, und nicht mal schlecht), die es wohl nur in den usa gibt. vermutlich reicht das (vertrauen in das) deutsche talent nicht aus, um eine solche show fuer deutsches fernsehen zu kopieren.
uli herzner jedenfalls macht wunderschoene kleider. ich will eins!

weihnachtsbaum und meine jugend

neulich hab ich irgendwo gelesen, dass die eigene jugend vorbei sei, wenn man einen weihnachtsbaum kauft. jetzt ist es bei mir soweit. mit 35. hier ist meiner (nochmal), und er ist sogar selbst geschmueckt:

home is...

...where i pay my mortgage.
...where i'm annoyed about the bureaucracy.

...where i hate tabloids and cannot ignore them.

nikolausi!

on the day when i got my exam results from soas for year 1 (pass with 54% - it's about doing as much as necessary, not as much as possible...), i proudly present my first ever christmas tree! with international baubles from sicily, germany and england, plus a few selfmade works of art.
it's not perfect, but i love my tree anyway. einen schoenen nikolaus wuensche ich!

december market

i'm not a lotto millionnairess just yet, but germany's 43 million will be mine on wednesday. mine! MINE!
meanwhile, vivienne westwood (no introduction necessary) has published her manifesto calling for active resistance to the propaganda of consumerism and youth cult. she launched it in the wallace collection, of all places, last saturday. i was not invited.

it's december, and i'm awaiting the monthly bulletin of the german comedy ambassador. when i saw him on stage in the funny side club, covent garden, he picked on me for being east german. quote: *you disgust me!* and he wanted his begruessungsgeld back! that's a done deal, if i could get my wall back, please. anyway, we are a tolerant bunch, we ossis. so where is his bulletin slagging off the miserable english football, the countless political scandals over here, etc? too much to choose from, it must be overwhelming even for a comedian! much like easter and christmas coming at once.
