men in england

i have often thought that to be a man in england is a hard lot. not only do they have to commute some 2 hours on cramped trains every morning AND evening so their kids can have a bit of lawn to play on that's bigger than a post stamp. they also never get out of their uniform, the suit, from the age of about 5. they have to earn the mortgage, earn the school fees for the kids, tuition fees... they are, in short, too busy earning a living to actually live. there are exceptions of course, but for the most part, i feel sorry about them.

but what's worse, since the 70s feminist movement, all men are potential rapists. since the ian huntley case, all men are also potential child molesters. they never had a chance to develop a normal relationship to the opposite sex, or to children. recently, the writer philip pullman made headlines when he declined a school book reading because he did not want to succumb to nonsense political correctness by paying for a police certificate that proved he was no paedophile. apparently, any adult in the vicinity of children needs to prove he is harmless now. the old legal principle of innocent until proven guilty has long expired and made way to a general, fundamental mistrust between the sexes.

to top it all, a suggestion today came from the prime sexist in government, harriet harperson. she attempted to boost her public profile by calling for targets on rape arrests and convictions. not sure what she is saying. there aren't enough rapes being committed, so more men need to be reported, charged and convicted? is she calling on women to point fingers some more? provoke more, if necessary? i have seen english women, and believe me, dear reader, they are not victims. they are the worst bullies, loud-mouthed, arrogant people you will meet, thoroughly to be avoided, and i haven't even said anything about style or taste yet. it must take a lot of alcohol and desperation to force yourself on one of them. so whatever harriet h. has in her mind (which is in dire need of therapy), if these rape targets are introduced, men will BECOME easy targets on the basis of nothing more severe than their gender.

alas... new laws like that have no chance of being passed before the next election, and then...
