meltdown. if any country should use this word sparingly, it's a country surrounded by water. such as iceland. which is, after all, surrounded and populated by icebergs. or great britain!
yet *financial meltdown* must be the most overused media phrase of the moment. along with collapse, turmoil, free fall...
i propose a new one:

apocalypse dow. (*i love the smell of bankruptcy in the morning*)
