german values

spiegel online is trying to explain the german value system to its readers. who are mostly german, presumably. basis of all german thinking and doing are the 3 principles:

- das haben wir schon immer so gemacht.
- wenn das jeder machen würde.
- wo kämen wir denn da hin?

or:

- we have always done it this way.
- if anyone would do that.
- what would the world come to?

sounds familiar?

the author also notices a *baden-wuerttembergisation* of the country (we cannot say blockwart anymore). couldn't agree more. in germany there is always somebody who can quote the current applicable regulation to you, if you want to hear it or not.
